ACDA-PA is pleased to announce the piece "O Me! O Life!" by Matthew Zimnoch as the winner of this year's Composition Contest. The work will be premiered at the Fall Conference at Susquehanna University on November 11, 2017. Thanks to coordinator Peter de Mets and the panel of judges for their work in reviewing the submissions: Mark A. Boyle (Seton Hill University), Christopher D. Holster (Susquehanna University), Daniel Hall (Lycoming College), and Julie Neish (Theil College). ![]() Matthew Zimnoch Matthew Zimnoch (b.1960) is a composer, operatic baritone, and trombonist. He has composed works for Choirs, Children's choirs, Solo Instruments, Songs for Voice and Song Cycles, and Chamber works of various instrumental combinations. He has been published in work-for-hire situations with educational publishers of Children's music. Most recently he has had several performances and a recording of his Unaccompanied Flute Solo, 'Balance', Premieres of his song cycle for Baritone and Piano, 'To Love and Be Beloved' (text by RW Emerson), and the 2016 Choral Composition Contest Winner for the ACDA-PA for his Children's Choir piece, 'Let Dogs Delight to Bark and Bite'. This year's contest winner (again for the ACDA-PA) is a 6 part a cappella setting of the Walt Whitman poem, 'O Me! O Life!'.
